I’m participating in the UX Writing Challenge, provided by Daily UX Writing. So for 15 days, I’ll be posting daily, with the results of my work and I hope to get some feedback from you. Thanks in advance!

The scenario of the challenge is about a short-haul truck driver who uses a phone app that monitors his route, schedule, fuel & deliveries. He has 6 more deliveries before stopping for fuel and lunch. Due to unexpected traffic, he’s behind schedule. He can choose to stay on his planned route for a few more stops, but risk running low on fuel and missing lunch, or he can get fuel and lunch now and finish the deliveries later. The challenge is to write a push notification alerting him about this dilemma and telling what are the options.

So, the prompt gave me a lot of information to take into consideration while coming up with the solution for this challenge. I could not fit all those details and information on the message.

From all the information I had, the most important ones were about telling the driver what time it was (almost break time) and that he could run out of gas if he did not stop at the scheduled break. Running out of gas could delay even more, or even stop him from getting all the deliveries done on that day.

It is important to keep users informed about what is going on, through appropriate, timely feedback, so in the title I told the driver that it was almost time for the scheduled break and in the message body, I chose to alert the driver what could happen if he did not stop when previously scheduled.

For the buttons, I gave the driver two options: to actually take a break when scheduled, or to do it later.

Here’s the solution I’ve come up for this challenge:

Two cards with the instructions for challenge #13 and the solution for the challenge

I’d appreciate any feedback from you.

Thanks and see you next time! :)
